Overview
Bookmark Dashboard is a Chrome extension that replaces your new tab page with an AI-powered bookmark management interface. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about how the extension handles your data.
The short version: your bookmarks stay on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data or browsing history.
Data We Collect
Bookmark Dashboard operates primarily on your local device. The only data we may process includes:
- Your Chrome bookmark library — accessed locally to power search, organization, and AI suggestions
- Extension settings and preferences — stored locally in Chrome's
chrome.storage.local - Anonymous usage analytics — if you have opted in (see third parties below)
What We Don't Collect
We do not collect:
- Your browsing history or visited URLs
- Personal identifiers such as name, email, or account credentials
- The content of web pages you visit
- Keystrokes, form data, or passwords
- Device fingerprints or persistent identifiers
How Data Is Used
Your bookmark data is used exclusively to provide the features of the extension:
- Full-text search across your bookmarks
- AI-powered suggestions for organizing and surfacing relevant bookmarks
- Displaying your bookmark library in the new tab dashboard
Bookmark data is never uploaded to our servers, shared with third parties for advertising, or used for any purpose beyond the extension's core functionality.
Local Storage
All user preferences, settings, and cached data are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs. This data remains under your control and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing extension data in Chrome settings.
No data is synchronized to external servers by the extension itself.
Third Parties
Bookmark Dashboard may integrate with the following third-party services:
- AI providers — If AI features are used, bookmark titles or descriptions may be sent to the AI service you configure (e.g., a local model or a provider you authenticate with). This is controlled entirely by you.
- Chrome Web Store — Extension installation and update delivery is managed by Google. Google's privacy policy applies to this interaction.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data to third parties.
Permissions Explained
Bookmark Dashboard requests the following Chrome permissions:
- bookmarks — Required to read, search, and display your bookmarks in the dashboard
- storage — Required to save your preferences and settings locally
- tabs — Required to open bookmarks in new or existing tabs
These permissions are the minimum necessary to deliver the extension's functionality. No permission grants us access to your browsing history or page content.
